APPLICATION INFORMATION

The Application Process

 

All applications must be submitted to and approved by the Graduate School for processing and final approval. 

 

All applications must contain the following before final admission to the program:

 

  1. Proof of immunization;

  2. Official transcripts from all colleges attended;

  3. Application fee paid and application form submitted to Graduate School.  Downloadable and online forms can be found at http://gradschool.louisiana.edu/forms/index.shtml;

  4. Acceptable scores on the Graduate Record Examination;

  5. Master’s Degree from an accredited university;

  6. GPA of at least 3.0 on the last 60 undergraduate hours;

  7. GPA of 3.00 on all graduate-level course work;

  8. Professional Resume;

  9. A formal letter of application that addresses why the candidate is seeking this degree, how the program will help with the candidate’s professional duties and responsibilities, career goals (both short and long term), special qualities and characteristics the candidate brings to the program, how and when the candidate plans to utilize the degree and how the candidate’s personal and professional environments will be supportive in their quest for the doctoral degree;  

  10. Names, addresses (office and e-mail) and telephone numbers of three individuals, and one (1) letter of recommendation from a University professor who can attest to the candidate’s ability to successfully complete a doctoral program;

  11. For applicants whose native language is not English, an acceptable score on the English proficiency examination (TOEFL) is required;

  12. Optional Interview (If requested by the admissions committee and may be conducted via telephone or face-to-face).

  13. Admission to the Ed. D. in Educational Leadership program is subject to all rules and policies of the relevant university governing boards.

 

Tenure-track Consortium University faculty members above the rank of instructor may not be admitted into the doctoral program.  Students who do not have a master’s degree in school administration or the equivalent, may be required to complete three to nine hours of course work in educational administration, either before or during the doctoral program. Students who have not completed courses in graduate statistics and research methods must include these courses in their program of study.
